    Default Harbor House Restaurant

Does anyone know the history of the building that is currently the Harbor House Restaurant at 440 Clinton Street?

Isn't that the building where the induction center for the armed forces used to be?

Immediately before this incarnation, it was called the Cock 'n' Bull...a collaboration between the owner of the Old Detroiter and an ex-manager of another bar...which had some great potential blown by a conflict of personalities at the helm. It would've been Detroit's Cheers...a huge party bar where serious drinking inspired amazing conversation and friendship...the spirit of which moved on to probably the Grand Trunk and/or the Park...both of which ascended to their greatness near the unraveling of the C'n'B.

The upstairs had been a recording studio at some point, with some of the fixin's scattered about.

Prior to that, it was called Tiffany's...hence all the fancy fixtures and mirrors, which nobody has dared to replace. Don't know the specifics, but some bad event happened then...a shooting where somebody died, if I remember the rumors...which was odd, since it is roughly 150 yards from police headquarters.

Before that, I have no idea.

    Cheers

Thanks for the memories Gannon. Cock 'n' bull was a GREAT bar! Good beer, good food, good music! Spent a lot of time in that bar having a great time. Even bought a t-shirt from there and I never buy bar t-shirts.
