    Hey folks:
In addition to the Free Press endorsements, this year we're working with publius.org, MiVote.org and the League of Women Voters to provide a ton of information about candidates for all the Aug. 4 races in Detroit.

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say it's the largest available repository of info about the candidates.

You can check it out here: http://publius.org/ballot/detroitballot.asp

Will the News be doing endorsements or are they too busy running articles about "What to do if your flight is cancelled" [[I'm not joking, see page A12 today)

I know that both forum-member charter candidates, myself, Andrew Linn, and Cara Blount were endorsed by the Regional Chamber. Though it is official, there is yet to be major press about it.

The only one of the Free Press picks I've been consistently impressed by is Saunteel Jenkins, but ws also pleased to read about a few of the others I hadn't even heard about such as Lisa Howze who sounds like a quality wonk.

I don't quite "get" Andre Spivey's candidacy and why he continues to get so much attention in the local papers. Perhaps, he just makes himself more available than the rest.

Thanks for the links. I know I am voting for Ken Cockrel, Kwame Kenyatta, Charles Pugh and Sheila Jackson. My other votes [[if I add names) will go to eastsiders. I am rather tired of council members who only seem to recognize downtown as being Detroit. Council by district can't happen soon enough for me.

Saunteel Jenkins was the long-time girlfriend of Gil Hill [[which relationship must have provided her a lot of traction early on) and is/was Christine Beatty's close friend from girlhood. What do people see in her? She's another re-run in my opinion...

Hmm... a local TV personality and a bunch of seasoned political insiders too intimately connected to more infamous crooks and fools. This will end well, I'm sure.

The Conyers' endorsement is pure madness. In the primary voters are permitted to vote for only 9 candidates. If you vote for more than 9, your ballot will be counted as an "overvote" and therefore not counted.

Conyers' endorsed 18 candidates. Any toady that follows his orders will have their vote cancelled.

Wonder if that was his plan?

    Who knows? Anything is possible.
An alternative to overvoting is to pick the most capable and desirable candidates and plunk vote for them. There is no requirement to vote on all nine positions.

What happen to this guy Dale Foster. I would like to hear from him. I wounder if he will get a endorsement. Afterall the guy has the most experince among all the incumbents. Over 10 years under 3 council persons.

I like his pratical ideas and 180 plan for clean and working restrooms in Detroit gas stations. They are a dump.

Come on Detroit when the dirt gets dug up Saunteel Jenkins could be serving federal time for taxes. Not mention she was not chief of staff

"Over 10 years under 3 council persons."

I think you answered your own question.
He worked for Tinsley-Talabi, K Cockrel, & Conyers.
What else needs to be said?

Or, he must not have interviewed well enough [[paid enough?) to receive the endorsements.

Or, the other candidates are better qualified.

Or, maybe he needs to change his deoderant.

You probably need to ask him what happened.

i endorse the log haired white guy who recycles.

he seems like a great guy, and from what I read on a nameless chocolate desert website, those tax problems are due to a drop in the price of commodities,

i say we should give the green guy a chance
