Back by popular demand, the Residental College of the University of Michigan and Semester in Detroit, in partnership with the U-M Detroit Center presents “Detroiters Speak.”


This free, seven week community course offered by the University of Michigan provides students and the general public an opportunity to attend discussion panel’s lead by Detroiters and University of Michigan faculty.


Topics will include:

    • Speakers: Kate Mendeloff + Spirit of Detroit Players

  • March 13- The Future of Education in Detroit
    • Speakers: U-M Faculty + Guests

  • March 27 – Detroit Music Beyond the Motown Sound
    • Speakers: Lolita Hernandez + Ozzie Rivera

  • April 10 – City Council in the New Age
    • Speakers: Craig Regester + City Council Members

  • April 17 – Reflection on Detroit
    • Speakers: Lolita Hernandez + Craig Regester


From music and culture to history and revitalization, Detroiters Speak will enlighten and inspire those from all walks of life.


This Thursday series runs from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the U-M Detroit Center.
