Cody High School to apparently be renovated by volunteers...

never heard of these guys, and it sounds like a pretty farfetched idea, but they have quite a list of partners and have done some larger scale stuff in the past.

We anticipate having over 10,000 volunteers, so we will undertake a very large-scale effort to remove blight and create beauty, establishing safe and inspirational pathways for kids traveling to and from school. We will also renovate homes in the surrounding area and demolish a few burned houses. Mann and Henderson Elementary schools will receive some love too. We plan to do light “facelift” projects at these locations.

Wow! I graduated in '76 from Cody. It is the only DPS that I attended that is still standing. Nice to hear.

You were probably there at the same time I was. I attended Kindergarten in the Everett wing around 1971-72. I was also there for High School for summer school to advance math courses in High School in the 1980's.

I graduated from Frank Cody High School in 2003. I would like to see that school all fix up instead of looking like a school with hard knocks.

I am currently in the Cody building [[3 small schools). It is true that there are many volunteers that are ready to do some pretty amazing things. Cody looks much different inside than it has in the past. I sure hope that things go as planned and we can have some updated and revamped things for our kids. My classroom is at least 110 degrees in the winter...with no windows. I sure hope they can fix the boiler issues [[hot in one class and no heat in others). I'll try to keep everyone posted as to progress.
