Default Land Use and Urban Agriculture

On Thursday, July 23rd, 2009, Net Impact of Southeast Michigan is hosting Critical Topics in Sustainability: Land Use and Urban Agriculture, featuring speaker Malik Yakini from the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network.
From the organizers:The city of Detroit has long struggled with a shrinking population and the resulting increase in vacant property. Urban farming could be the answer that puts this land to use and provides positive social, environmental and economic benefits to the community. Through this event, we hope to spur thought-provoking conversation about this hot topic.

Not to be cranky, but why is this program being held in Rochester?

The event is at 'Mind, Body, and Spirits' restaurant in Rochester. Selected as one of Metro Detroit’s best new restaurants by the Detroit Free Press, the restaurant offers local and organic meals in a sustainable building. We thought the topic and venue are a perfect blend.
