    The vast urban freeways largely destroyed Detroit by tearing apart neighborhoods and making far out suburbs easy to get to. And there are 25 miles of new freeway lanes coming at the expense of cutting public bus service. The tax on state fuel used to pay for city and suburban public bus service but since the introduction of local transit taxes, this funding mechanism has been in decline. search the words save fuel tax and look for the link on Detroit.
