    Default International view of Detroit?

My experience has been that foreigners views in general about Detroit aren't as harsh as Americans unless they have strong ties to the US. But many foreigners find the concept of an urban decline as steep as Detroit's to be... foreign. The agent who screened me while I was going through passport control in Italy a couple weeks ago was very amused by the "Enjoy Detroit" t-shirt I was wearing.

There's some idea of the view of other countries. I remember a couple years ago when two Swedish reporters were following Patrick Berglund and he was playing in some tournament in Detroit. The reporters said they felt unsafe around their Detroit hotel, FWIW.
