The July 19 post from the National Register of Historic sites
reports that we have a new National Register Historic District
in the metro area. Thi is the Norwayne Housing Devlopment in Wayne and Westland bounded, roughly, by Palmer, Wildwood, Glenwoode, Merriman and the Lower Rouge Parkway. This development was built during World War Ii to provide residences for workers at the Willow Run plant. The many homes in this
new National Register Historic District were designed, I believe by two Detroit architectural firms: Lyndon and Smith and by
O'Dell, Hewlett and Luickenbach.
