Total duration 18 minutes [[The funniest part starts at 15:00):
Immigration Courts: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver [[HBO)
America’s dysfunctional immigration court system forces many children to appear in court alone. That’s as ridiculous in real life as it would be on a courtroom television show.
That is just so wrong on so many levels.

    This country has gone insane.

Heard on the radio: The immigration detention centers have become overcrowded so they're beginning to house them in prisons instead.

Also: Prisons in Michigan have been decommissioned due to reduced need.

Not sure what all that means.

It could just mean that finally some immigration laws are being upheld for a change. If a bank robber or most other criminals were apprehended, they go to jail too even if it means their kids' standards of living suffer for it. I haven't seen recent statistics but back when Obama was all but inviting in the third world, the average age of the unaccompanied "children" was 16. That means half of the "children" were 16-17.

Modern day actual slavery is back. Adult male sub-Saharan Africans are being sold for $400 in Libya; slavery there being a bi-product if Obama/Kerry/Hillary policy in Libya.

Here's an article attributing the overcrowding to a new "policy that requires the prosecution of everyone who crosses the border illegally."

In a Desperate Search for Detention Space, the U.S. Moves 1,600 Immigrants to Federal Prisons

I seem to recall Nazi Germany having the same problem with their concentration camps. Is that where we're headed? Does anyone really want to go down that road again?

I don't recall Nazi Germany incarcerating foreign nationals invading Germany. The article uses the Orwellian PC term "immigrants" although the more succinct legal term is "illegal aliens". Alien just means non-citizen. Aliens come in two varieties; legal and illegal. "The linguistic design of Newspeak [[e.g. replacing illegal alien with immigrant) is for thought control, by diminishment of the user's range of thought, which is realised with a minimal vocabulary of limited denotation and connotation." -wikipedia

Hitler killed millions of mostly Jewish German citizens. Trump has not killed millions of Hispanic U.S. citizens so the Nazi comparison is at least disproportional. Trump instead defended a border and upheld laws, that's his job, to the consternation of Democrats looking for votes and US Chamber of Commerce Republicans wanting cheap labor.

For anyone who wants to pick and choose which laws should be enforced, their solutions include changing laws, amending the Constitution, and getting rid of the Constitution. Picking and choosing which laws to enforce isn't an option. For the rest of us it is frustrating and inexplicable that we have to wait at stoplights while others are allowed to flaunt our borders. Also, there is no slavery involved; slavery being the theme of this thread.

Slavery is a Very Real Thing in America [[And here are 10 facts about it)
There are many different estimates as to how many people are actually living in some type of slavery today — as it is often called by many different names — but most estimates put the number in the tens of millions.
