Default Oakaloosa Music Fest This Saturday 7/27

    http://oakaloosa.com

Big concert fest this saturday at Fort Wayne.

This is not a Historic Fort Wayne Coalition event, it is run by its own organizers who have rented the fort site from the city for the event.

However, unlike other events, theyre touting this as "the region's first fully philanthropic music fest," and the organizers actually seem to be putting their money where their mouth is in terms of making it benefit the venue, and a host of other community orgs and nonprofits. In other words, proceeds from this concert stand to make a significant, positive, direct impact on Fort Wayne for a change. I'm fairly excited about that.

So please come out and support this festival in its first year. We have been working extremely hard putting this together for months. The plan is to make this an annual thing, with it getting bigger publicity and bigger name acts every year.

From what I understand there will be about 40 local acts in addition to national talent.

Admission is $45 on the website above, $65 at the door.

better yet, i believe there is a Groupon out there that gets you in for like $30. Or if you're really hard up for cash, you could always sign up for the Historic Fort Wayne Coalition [[$20) and volunteer to work the event like me haha.

one of the other immediate benefits of this concert is that many acres of overgrown brownfield adjacent to the fort have been cleared of brush and dumped rubbish for parking. Namely the old Revere Copper & Brass Works.
