Default Battle of the Overpass photograph used on "The Red Green Show"

    http://youtu.be/_Atp9bCo-Bo

At around the 17:22 mark in the linked video, the photograph used is that of Walter Ruther and Richard Frankensteen after they were beaten during the Battle of the Overpass in 1937! I did not know what that photo was about until it was used in last month's News-Herald special section about the history of the Downriver auto industry.

Has anyone else noticed this? It appears that the producers of the show, during that episode's preproduction, crossed the Ambassador Bridge [[or the tunnel or wherever) into the US and from there, went to the Henry Ford Museum to borrow that photograph!

I still proudly carry my Red Green Fan Club card and am a member in good standing of the Possum Brotherhood.

This guy is a hoot in small doses.

I love Canadian humor; but sometimes it comes across as "shit, ya just had to be there, eh?"

Would not the photo have been at the Walter Reuther Library? The labor archives?

Yes, this was a photo of a very intense labor battle, a very important part of Detroit area history.

Bumping this to remind you that Red Green will once again be returning to Metro Detroit on his northeastern US tour-he'll be at Wayne County Community College's Downriver campus in Taylor on November 7th.

The Reuther has that entire series of images -- before, during and after the incident. If anyone is interested, they can be found here: http://www.reuther.wayne.edu/image/tid/1203

A priceless little moment for me came some years back when I needed to get a vendor pass from the security office to get into the Rouge complex. While the security functionary filled out my paperwork I casually asked if Harry was working today. Y'know, Harry Bennett. "Uh, nope; don't know if there is a Harry in this office... maybe he's on afternoons?"

That's hilarious. How the mighty have fallen!

No legacy there. Turn the page. History forgot you. Life moves on. LOL!
