Default Detroit Mayoral & City Council Candidate Forums & Debates

I'm sure I'm not the only Detroit voter on DetroitYes! who would like to see and hear our candidates articulate their positions in forums & debates. If the DYes! community is aware of any, could you please post them on this thread?

NO INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATE EVENTS, PLEASE. JUST EVENTS WHERE WE GET TO COMPARE MULTIPLE CANDIDATES FOR THE SAME ELECTIVE OFFICE SIDE BY SIDE. THANK YOU!

The only thing I have heard or seen in reference to district candidates is the tiny postcard I found in my door from a candidate running in my district. VERY very dissapointed in my choices so far. If you dont hear much from the individual candidates, you probably wont hear much from a group of them.
I am hoping closer to August one of the churches or community organizations will put together something

    Hi Mam and others,
Come out to the Second Baptist Church located at 441 Monroe Street within Greektown on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 2 p.m for a forum dialogue with ALL candidates of office. Free parking at Greektown casino. Please bring your parking stub to the church to get it validated.

Hello nativegirl! Thank u for responding to the thread. Will the candidates for each office be given appointed time slots for each district or office [[I.e. Mayoral candidates at 2:00; City Council District 1 at 2:30, etc.)? If not, that sounds a bit chaotic. There are a lot of candidates on the ballot with Mayor, Council, Clerk & Police Commission. That's at least 60+ people if they were all invited & showed up.

    Mam,
Good question! My assumption is that all of the candidates for the respective offices for Mayor, CC, City Clerk etc are invited. Not sure of the actual format but I do not intend on staying past 4p.m. So, the candidates have 2 hours to impress me [[or not) if the event start on time. I tried to contact the DOE at 313-876-0190 to get someone to help me but I was bounced around too many times and got feed up and hung up.

I'm not sure about the rest, but city council candidates have 3 minutes to introduce themselves and 3 minutes to answer questions.

    Detroit has these primary candidates:

BENNY NAPOLEON No one likes him.

TOM BARROW No one likes him.

LIZA HOWZE No one likes her.

KRISTEN CRITTENDON No one likes her.

I may have to pick a write in candidate MIKE DUGGAN!

I hear you on that... I think he will get many write-ins as a protest vote if nothing more.
