I apologize for the quality. It appears as if MDOT is constructing a stairway, or ramp from the I-375 on-ramp to East Jefferson. Very strange. Anyone have any ideas?

There's no way for a pedestrian to legally cross there. Maybe it's a skybridge?
I can see this from my window - yesterday they surfaced it with wood. It looks like a ramp - a ramp for jumping. We're wondering if it's an X-Games stunt - or maybe a movie stunt?
MDOT typically does not build anything out of wood [[breakaway sign posts excluded). I have no knowledge of any major project at this intersection either. My guess is it is temporary as joesmithrocks points to.
Drove past earlier today. The crew there was working out of a Haddad's truck. Safe money says this is a transformers set, but I'm just guessing. It's definitely not MDOT.
I've been watching them build this too - it's not a concrete form, and 2 days ago camo netting went up on the sides of it.

Subject: Temporary City Road Closures – Friday, June 28 through Sunday, June 30
Beginning this Friday, June 28 through Sunday, June 30, 2013, numerous City of Detroit
roads will be temporarily closed to thru traffic due to the movie production ‘Need for Speed’ being
filmed throughout the downtown area. The affected roads and expressways are listed below:
·Entrance to I-375 from Jefferson will be closed starting at 8pm Friday night.
·Southbound M-10 will be closed at Howard St. on Saturday, June 29th until
Sunday, June 30th midnight.
·Westbound I-375 and westbound M-10 will be closed Saturday, June 29th
from11am to 9pm and Sunday, 4pm-9pm.
·Jefferson Avenue [[from M-10 to I-375) will be closed to thru traffic for the majority
of the weekend, but cross traffic [[Griswold, Woodward, Bates, Randolph, Brush,
Beaubien), will be allowed to cross Jefferson Avenue. [[The plan is to hold traffic no
longer than five minutes at a time).
For your convenience, listed below are alternate routes to get to the RiverWalk and various
Ren Cen parking locations:
·From I-375 south, exit at East Lafayette and take Lafayette east to Rivard;
take Rivard south to Atwater.
·From M-10 south, take I-75 to I-375 and follow the directions above.
I've been watching this from the bus each day as we turn onto E Jefferson from the service drive. Clearly a movie set... the ramp and they have also made a clear landing zone with concrete barriers on the other side of Jefferson under the BCBS billboard.
I have been amused at the care they have taken to block any possible access to said ramp from cars on 375... they had two 'bumper trucks' parked there at first, now concrete barriers. Would be sweet to watch them film the scene!
Sounds like the scene will take a chase of some sort from the Lodge, under COBO [[always cool), and then to the 375 entrance ramp for a car-over-car jump. Curious on one comment in Honkey Tonk's letter... how will they allow "cross-street traffic to cross Jefferson"? Griswold, Woodward, Brush all dead-end into Jefferson. Ah, well...
