    Default Government Trust

So do all of the anti-Bush wire tappers suddenly trust the Government with their personal data now that a Democrat President just happens to be in charge?

Do the posters on this site have any concern with Government overstepping it's Constitutional boundaries now that it has launched it's assault not only on the 2nd Amendment, but now the 1st Amendment and the 4th Amendment?

When are people in this nation going to realize the Government is playing the Media like a fiddle to keep the Left & the Right turned against one another while they screw over & erode the freedoms of ALL OF US?

Let us not forget that this is not a Democrat or a Republican thing, it is a Freedom thing. It is a Government abuse thing. When we give up a little liberty with blind trust because the President of one party we "side" with happens to be in charge, the opposing party gets all those powers once they take over. People must fight and die for Liberty and Freedom, but then give it up without thinking. Once it is given up, it is never given back without fighting and dying to reclaim it.

Richard Nixon got impeached for tapping one office. Now the Government can tap millions and it's considered OK?

Granted this can be a slippery slope but I think the president is on solid legal ground with this http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2..._20130608&_r=1&

Yes, and the more both sides step forward and demand accountability the less likely this can be contained in the 'us vs them' partisan box that allows a pass and dismisses criticism.

What our government is NOT telling us:

The rallies in Hong Kong happening right now to protect Snowden.

One of the most amazing things is how easily so many Americans consider giving up their freedom no big deal. They let Government chip away and chip away, give up a little here, give up a little there, until the country is completely transformed and you have to fight to have freedom all over again.

Other countries around the world have seen the United States as a bastion of freedom, envious of our rights. They must see us as to be so foolish to let our Government do as they wish as we idly sit on our hands.

Fifty-six percent of Americans support the National Security Agency’s phone monitoring, while only 41 percent deem the agency’s actions unacceptable, according to a national surveyconducted by the Pew Research Center and The Washington Post.
    http://dailycaller.com/2013/06/11/ma...-surveillance/

Maybe Americans do not deserve their freedom after all, and have become much too complacent. Perhaps it has been too many generations since our forefathers and ancestors have died to create and defend those freedoms.

Our government don't trust us. Edward Snowden show the world the truth about BIG BROTHER watching us like God!

One factor that has been conspicuously absent [[unless I've missed it) from the coverage of this story is the central role that encryption plays. Why is that not mentioned? Cryptography has advanced to the point where anyone, good or bad, can relatively easily thwart eavesdropping by anyone else — including the NSA. They could still do traffic analysis but there are ways to undermine that too.

I have no doubt these organizations have a great advantage over their adversaries that feel overconfident about the security of their communications. But those who use proper encryption can be genuinely confident.

Perhaps they want people to believe that the NSA can't legally eavesdrop and so won't and so there's no need to use strong encryption and so people will neglect to encrypt? That sounds like pretty silly reasoning. I doubt people that naive are going to have many secrets worth stealing.

Maybe the NSA has a secret quantum computer! LOL!

    Default Udall and Wyden

Some credit should be given to Udall and Wyden two Democrats who support government trust by supporting transparency and opposing expanding police state policies. Every presidency seems to bring out heroes who buck the corruption of leaders of their own party. Senators Morse. McGovern, and Fulbright, all Democrats, fought President Johnson's expansion of the Vietnam War. Representative Paul spoke out against W. Bush's Iraq war and police state policies. Now we have Senators Udall and Wyden, both Democrats, standing firm in their support of civil liberties in opposition to Party leaders.

Government trust and civil liberties are not a partisan issue. Rep. King, Rep. Bachman, and the ever loathsome Sen. McCain side with President Obama on such things while Republican Senators Lee, Paul, and Cruz side with Democratic Senators Udall and Wyden.

Instead of all this turmoil trying to capture and arrest Snowden, they should be rounding up all the politicians that violated our 4th Amendment rights as American Citizens and arrest them.

Former CIA contractor and self-declared leaker Edward Snowden possesses information that could badly damage the United States if revealed, the journalist who first published the leaked documents said in a newspaper interview.
"Snowden has enough information to cause more harm to the U.S. government in a single minute than any other person has ever had in the history of the United States," Guardian blogger and columnist Glenn Greenwald told the Argentinean daily La Nacion in an interview published Saturday. "But that is not his objective."

    What the hell?
What kind of country do we live in today where our Government spies on US Citizens in direct violation of the Constitution, then makes a man who exposes it Public Enemy #1?!! And then the Government has the audacity to justify itself for it!?!!

What has the USA turned into when our citizens seek human rights protection, and want to seek asylum in RUSSIA and VENEZUELA?!
In the past, people risked their lives to defect to the UNITED STATES!!

    this is AWESOME !!

DEER TRAIL, Colo. - The small town of Deer Trail, Colorado is considering a bold move. The town board will be voting on an ordinance that would create drone hunting licenses and offer bounties for unmanned aerial vehicles.
Deer Trail resident, Phillip Steel, drafted the ordinance.

"We do not want drones in town," said Steel. "They fly in town, they get shot down."
    This is great:

The ordinates states, "The Town of Deer Trail shall issue a reward of $100 to any shooter who presents a valid hunting license and the following identifiable parts of an unmanned aerial vehicle whose markings and configuration are consistent with those used on any similar craft known to be owned or operated by the United States federal government."
    LOVE THIS HAHAHA

THE ANTI-PATRIOT ACT LIBERALS SHOULD BE SCREAMING RAGING MAD ABOUT THIS:
The newest [[video game) systems have sensors that are 'watching what goes on in people's living rooms,' and could allow the government to listen in without users knowing.

The Amash amendment to the defense bill would have cut funding to the NSA for spying on Americans except in cases in which judicial warrants are issued.

White House press secretary Jay Carney made the following announcement preceding the vote,
    "
we oppose the current effort in the House to hastily dismantle one of our Intelligence Community’s counterterrorism tools. This blunt approach is not the product of an informed, open, or deliberative process. We urge the House to reject the Amash Amendment, and instead move forward with an approach that appropriately takes into account the need for a reasoned review of what tools can best secure the nation."
    http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2013/07/white-house-doesnt-houses-data-mining-amendment/67529/

Republican House members voted for phone surveillance 134-94. Democrats voted against surveillance and the President's expressed support 111-83. 12 House enablers abstained.
