An Amazing Story - Team 313 Detroit

I live in Islandview Village and at least on Field street we get lots done because everyone knows the city forgot neighborhoods many years ago. We write grants, we save neighbors homes from foreclosure, we work with our kids.

The most terrific thing happened [[I can only say amazing) a neighbor and we went to Eastern Market Saturday. Bought plants for kids projects started last year and have already done two clean ups. This pales compared to what happened Sunday!

I get A call at church Sunday morning and a great neighbor says this group showed up unannounced and spent 9 hours on our community. It is like wow!!!! They are self sponsored, church affiliated and serious cool.

Team 313 Detroit. I just want to give serious accolades to this group.

Just a reminder to folk that there are serious great people in this city.

I am so grateful. So many groups doing such great things and then we have the asshole governor thinking he should convene a group to teach us "idiot" Detroiters" how to learn to volunteer. Grow up, get real. Detroit has huge problems and great amazing grass roots orgs. that address these problems daily.
