Saw my first albino squirrel. It was interesting. Never saw one before.

Our neighborhood along the Indian River in Florida is known for white squirrels. One friend who grew up there says there have been white squirrels in that particular three block long area as long as he can remember. People drive through every day looking for those squirrels. There have been as many as five at once just in our yard, mainly because the former owner of our house comes by on Saturdays to feed them his special holiday nut mix. It is interesting that these are not all albino squirrels, and they do crossbreed with the local gray squirrels, producing some interesting blond combinations.

As a kid, black squirrels were rare, now they are equal in number to the standard red squirrel. As a Detroit resident and living in a "spacious residential" area we are seeing more and more wild life return. Kind of cool. I haven't seen our local fox yet. The bunnys are around and no doubt food for the fox. Waiting to see coyotes arrive next. Really could do without the next door possum though. Love the pheasants and their screech.
