At least the perpetrator was caught. But based on the original video, I have norespect for the younger guys who more or less just said “oh well, old man, sucks to be you” while the [[relatively lengthy) assault was taking place..

Unfortunately there's a lot of no-snitch and mind-your-own mentality in Detroit.

However, you also have to realize that it can be very instinctive to protect yourself when faced with a split second decision. As the attack continued, the men needed to make the decision to either intervene and risk their own lives and health, or watch helplessly.

I would like to think I would have helped, but without actually being in that situation I can't say with certainty that I would be brave enough take on a man with a knife.

While I wish the bystanders would have helped, the most outrageous part of this story is that a man robbed and repeatedly stabbed a senior citizen. How could someone do that to another human being, let alone a senior citizen.

The perpetrator has no respect for fellow humans. Lock him up and throw away the key. Armed robbery and attempted murder.

Locking him up costs money, you know? But you're right, part of the reason these crimes continue is "no snitching", but even sadder they've become accepted as just a part of everyday life. Think of the effect this has on the City. The shopkeeper has GOT to be rethinking about being there. Others have got to be thinking about getting out of Dodge the first opportunity that come along. And people blame "white flight" and "abandonment" on Detroit's state. I'd like to think I'd intervene, but I've learned previously, you don't know what you'd do in the actual situation.

Glad they caught that "low-life piece of _hit" Wish that senior would have put a cap in his _ss. You can't go anywhere now without looking over your shoulder.
