    Default motor city makeover

My neighborhood has already started our clean up. I was shocked to see that the city expects us to clean up but plans for no special pick ups. Most of the dumps are west side. It's just unbelievable. Most of our neighbors don't even have cars much less trucks. We did get area business to agree to take some of this trash in their commercial bins. We probably have 6 cubic yards already with more to come.

ok, just want to add to my short rant. I live in a great neighborhood with great people. we write grants, mow city owned property, do at least 5 projects a years with our kids and neighborhood improvement.

It really is outrageous that the city expects us to do their job and they can't even schedule a pick up.

Bulk pick-up days disappeared under the Kilpatrick administration being cited as "too expensive", and a cost cutting measure. For a while, they placed huge dumpsters by the Packard Plant, and with proper ID, you could take your bulk items there. I think they still do bulk pick-up a few times a year, though I haven't seen them do it in a while and discarded items are starting to appear in empty fields and abandoned buildings, again, around here.

Bulk pick-up occurs 4x a year, and I have seen them do it. Also, yard waste is now picked up twice a month.

There's a link on that page to get the specific pick up days based on your address.
