The only two comments for the article...

Does it physically harm some people to see Detroit even potentially improve itself?

I'm not surprised by the comments , I'm sure there will be much more worse.
Most people that make negative comments are people that haven't been here, or live in a subdivision or suburb , and the few from a big city are haters anyway, so who cares what they think the only view that matters is the x-games folks and they see it as safe enough and cool enough to stand out .
I can see where they are coming from Detroit has hosted super bowls , grand prix, conventions ect and Detroit could easily handle the x-games .
If they would held here it would send a message " Detroit does has some really fucked up parts , but they are working to come back give them a honest look.
No one is asking these people to move their families here .
X-games is a tough and rough sport why not Detroit ?

Yes it does. Haters gonna hate. Best way to harm them even more is for Detroit to actually improve itself.

"Their intentions are no other reason except to make other people feel like shit because usually they talk crap over the internet, knowing all too well that they would get their ass handed to them in a fight in real life."

It's funny because people the comments on both sides are so predictable.

Extreme right: Detroit is a murderous cesspool of crack addict abortionists on welfare.

Extreme left: Detroit's successful courtship of ESPN's xgames -- quite possibly a whiter sport more than curling and hockey -- is another example of Xtreme Gentrification and capitalist exploitation from Lansing and Wall Street.

In my dream world, we'd get the Al Sharptons and the Sean Hannitys of the world to all host a joint conference somewhere in Miami or something. They can attract all the naysayers who have their own agenda.

The rest of us can try to bring commerce and residential service back to the city.
