Default Looking for warehouse space to throw charity event.

We are throwing our second annual Michigan Glass Project here in Detroit and are looking for 5,000-10,000 sf of light industrial space to rent so we can set up glass making equipment. We make pieces over three days, draw 300-400 glass blowers and donate the proceeds to the Belle Isle Aquarium. Last year we gave $12,000 and plan to donate more this year. Check out our link. Any leads would be appreciated.

You could try the Casino on Belle Isle or the Stables, or even the Boat Club. I know the Casino is rentable, have no idea about the condition of the Stables but theBoat Club could work as well.

Beyond that, I think you could find some rentable space through Focus Hope or the Capuchin monks. The Masonic temple needs money and they certainly have room.

maybe those ideas aren't very useful as I am sure you've thought of them already.

Are you looking for a space to accommodate spectators? Do you have special power or gas needs?

There are plenty of big empty spaces in Detroit, of course, but check with these entities, as they know what's in their environs:

    Midtown Detroit Inc. http://midtowndetroitinc.org/

    Eastern Market : http://www.detroiteasternmarket.com/

There have also been big events at City Airport.

There may empty space at the Ford Piquette Plant/Museum [[and this is a great place to know about, anyway)
