    Default Detroits own Casey Kasem Retires

    Americas Top 40 will never be the same again!!! Casey Kasem retired and broadcast his final show this past weekend.
    Born in Detroit in 1932 and worked at WJBK

    Yes, Casey Kasem has been a source of enjoyment, inspiration, and pride [[in Detroit) to me for a long time. I enjoy listening to the rebroadcasts of his older countdowns on the internet from other areas. KGBO [[Sunday at noon Detroit time) is one of many stations that have either a 70s or 80s countdown each week that streams online.

    Casey's rep has stated that "This is the time to end the AC show. That gives Casey time to do his other work – voiceovers, cartoons, you name it."

    I think Casey retired from voicing Shaggy a couple of years ago.

    Also, he can do a bunch of the 70's and 80's shows intros and commercials in one sitting. The AC show had to be done each week. His son does much of the voicework on the 70's and 80's shows.
