    Default Detroit 2016

Detroit Downtown Partnership annual meeting just finished. Didn't see a thread anywhere. Over 1,000 attendees apparently. Twitter #Detroit2016 with some live tweeting and info.

Downtown 2012 was its safest year in last 5. [[15% reduction in crime over 2011).

Want to add 1200 new residents, to bring total to 7000. "Live Downtown added 400 new downtown residents, combined w/ Live Midtown is 925 in last 18 mos." Downtown has a 97% occupancy rate, and growing. Expect 1000 new housing units downtown in the next 3 years.

Capitol Park development expected to begin this summer, retail and residential.

11,000 new employees downtown in last 18 months.

Have picked up 6.5 million pounds of trash through Clean Downtown program. Installed 137 new lights, improved uptime 85%.

    From the Gov:
"It's not Detroit versus Michigan. It's Detroit, Michigan."

Wow Danny, you are really making some bold claims.

I will bet you that the 2nd District will be represented by Rashida Tlaib. What do you want to bet? a dollar? A bottle of Faygo? Better Made?

2016 isn't very far away. Maybe by then someone not named "Dan Gilbert" will decide to invest in the city

I remember reading 100,000 somewhere, but I think that number may be off by as much as 50,000.

According to the 7.2 Square Mile Report, 67,812 work in the Central Business District, 9,666 "adjacent" to the CBD [[Greektown and Foxtown I presume?), 34,813 in Midtown and 23,111 in New Center, for a total of 135,402 in the Greater Downtown area.

I think adjacent to downtown would be Corktown and Lafayette Park.

Agreed but they didn't say "adjacent to downtown," they said "adjacent to the Central Business District," which is a specific subsection of downtown, no?
