The Detroit Works Project has made major headway on its plans to redraw and revitalize Detroit. The new plan calls for consolidation around stronger areas - as already established - along with chartered security forces and the conversion of open communities into gated communities. To illustrate how this will play out for the city, Detroit Works Project released a fresh drawing today depicting its vision for Detroit.
Dan Gilbert pledged to pay for world class graffiti artists to decorate the walls of the new gated communities. Mayor Dave Bing callled Gilbert's offer to the city "yet another shining example of the unprecedented generosity of our ruling class" and promised to demolish all homes outside approved living areas.
