Now I have to get the image of Ayn Rand in a superhero costume out of my mind. Ugh.

To extend the social mobility metaphor of "climbing the social ladder," the ladder has morphed into a bizarre pair of escalators that move at different speeds at different heights. The longer down escalator is at the bottom [[e.g., student loans). The shorter top part is an up escalator. People can climb at different speeds wherever they are but where they end up depends more on the escalators than their personal effort. At that point motivation has been removed from the system and feudalism has been achieved.

Sounds like a carnival ride. Sell tickets!

I'm old enough to remember a time when human predation on other humans was not even tolerated, let alone encouraged.

^ you must be really really old,it’s a dog eat dog world can be traced back to 43 BC.

The consumers actually create it because their individual loyalty is based on saving a dollar.

There was a great segment on NPR about the cost of Insulin in the U.S. Up to 10 times as much as in many countries. People are dying from this, but you might as well keep dishing out on Venezuela and Cuba for your narrow interpretation of socialism, since your carbuncle won't go away...

^ you forgot to add Canada in there, people are also dying from being on the waiting list of socialist medical.

My father told me when I was young, the only way that you are going to get ahead in life is to get a job and retire from it.

6 months before he was set to retire after almost 35 years with the same company the company downsized and he was let go with 50% of his pension.

He recinded that fatherly advice shortly after that, not that I ever followed it to begin with anyways.

We choose our paths, when you allow others to choose it for you,it stands to reason your wealth will be transferred to others.

People will max out 5 credit cards and blame it on everybody else because they do not make enough or cannot acquire wealth.

Back in the late 40s my mother sewed clothes for the rich people,by the age of 18 she owned 4 rental houses, when she passed at age 59 she was worth 3 million liquid and had another 4 million in real estate holdings.

A woman raised in that time, while raising a family,at a time when she was supposed to be in the kitchen, was not only in the kitchen but also in the field making her way, with only a high school diploma.

It is tough to acquire wealth working for somebody, just as it is working for yourself, but we still live in a country where anything is possible, when one stops playing the blame game and takes control of their own destiny.

But it is really easy to say the bad corporations and dog eat dog world takes all of my money.

Do you care to provide evidence from a credible source for the above statement?

You have a history of not reading links provided and sticking to the narrative even when the links disagree.

So self research will show you that there is no perfect healthcare system in place,no matter how many billions you throw at it.

Not that you will, but you can start here.

    https://www.fraserinstitute.org/site...-in-canada.pdf

My guess is the response will be,that’s all made up and fake.

    as per the course.

25% of British cardiac patients die waiting for treatment, and an investigation by a British newspaper found that delays in treatment for colon and lung cancer patients have been so long that 20% of cases were incurable by the time they finally received care. 193,000 NHS patients a month wait beyond the target time of 18 weeks for surgery.

No, i just don't think "research" from Koch-brothers funded entities [[Fraser Institute) and organizations implicated in financial fraud [[Zero Hedge) are worth anything, especially when they are published in-house with zero peer review.

Both articles "research" was designed to find a pre-determined outcome, which is blatantly clear even from a quick read. I could give you chapter and verse on that, but it would be a waste of time. As Edward Koch [[no relation - at least none I am aware of) said“I can explain it to you, but I can't comprehend it for you.”

I'm not a Krotch brothers fan by any means, but just as an FYI, EVERYONE skews numbers and reports their way when they have something to sell you, everyone. If you don't believe that, you're just kidding yourself.

^ yes, I am reminded of that every time I turn on the news,I try and look for several different sources before forming an opinion.

To me there is not a link that anybody can post that cannot be disputed one way or another and so called experts do not always get it right.

As we are seeing so called credentials can be bought anyways so taking things with a grain of salt has morphined into a sack of salt.

rbb was useing the creditability of Zero hedge as a counter discussion when a search of the subject actually provides many examples including the statistics from the British government.

It was just easier to discredit the link then to actually spend the same amount of time actually researching.

You Are Probably a Victim of the Largest Theft of All Time
I thought this video was going to be a fun top ten list, then I realized that most of the theft in America is the rich robbing the poor. Literally! Not even in a roundabout way...literally not paying them for more than twenty billion dollars of work every year. This is literally theft. No one goes to jail. Ever. It's cool. Don't worry...we have a minimum wage...ish.

The folks who defend wage theft say that:

    1. Minimum wages prevent certain work from getting done...like work done by undocumented immigrants and the very very poor. These people wouldn't have jobs at all otherwise! The laws are too strict!

    2. Most wage theft is just poor management. The companies don't know it's happening! It's just the floor managers who are causing these problems! It's not a CEO's responsibility to know what their employees are up to! [[That is exactly what their job is.)

    3. It's not as big of a deal as big fancy non-profits think!

It is, of course, extremely difficult to measure...but surveys of workers regularly show a huge variety of different kinds of wage theft. Worried you might be being stolen from?

I have a friend and when the crash happened the company she works for downsized hundreds of employees, the ones that were left went to working from home.

She was retained for the southern division because she handled and was responsible for lucrative government contracts, once a year they all meet somewhere in the world for a company week vacation.

The last one she went to the company owners made a comment about how if they were happy with the yearly bonuses,it was a surprise to non managers because they had never recieved thier bonuses.

She did the math and figured her bonus’s through the years should have adveraged $60 to $80,000 per year, when she confronted the district supervisor her told her she was lucky to have her job and that was her bonus and if she pushed it she would no longer be there.

So the supervisors and managers were keeping and splitting the bonuses instead of passing them down to the ones in the field.

She handled it better then I would have by working part time for an ex-employee that started their own version of the company, that company is approaching 30 million a year in sales,so that is what the managers cost the parent company with thier shenanigans. 30 million a year.

Minimum wage is just that, everything has a value,in the job market a value is placed on an individual, some feel that a person flipping hamburgers should be making the same wage as a skilled doctor.

The countries that had a program in place that guarantees a basic wage are experiencing the same thing that happens in this country.

When you offer somebody the opportunity to make the same amount of money to stay at home then they would make actually working sooner or later more are going to take advantage of that.

The response is,that is wage theft,If you do not want to work for minimum wage do the same thing everybody else did who did not have wealthy parents that could buy a degree.

Eat dirt while you get a marketable skill so your do not have to work for minimum wage.

Ask the Indians how waiting for the government to help you out worked for them, everybody is responsible for themselves individually,it’s not the governments job or employers job to provide you with a livable wage,it is on you to control your destiny,it’s not guaranteed or entitled, coming up with excuses and playing the blame game goes nowhere.

I posted an example of what could be considered wage theft, the rest is sitting around waiting for somebody else to make it all better.

I see you're trolling another OP by posting nonsense in his thread.

Why don't you just start your own thread 'Bullshit by Richard'.

Then leave the adults to talk among themselves.

Sorry Nancy that’s not how it works,it is a discussion forum, one does not actually purchase a private thread and use the Canadian way of sensorship to filter out what you do not wish to read.

The only contribution you have posted is to whine, then refer to adults adults.

Pick up your toys and go to bed, maybe when you grow up you can figure out how to feed your starving school children.

Of course with your bullying attitude you probably enjoy starving kids because it makes you feel superior.

The OP does not even comment on his/her started thread,it is just a compilation of leftist rich people suck links and should distribute thier wealth equally,so anything is fair game.

I guess that is an example of the highly educated in Canada, they have to use bad language/swear in order to attempt to get thier point across.

I still say,you owe the taxpayers a refund.

Socialists do the suffering thing better. Stalin, Hitler [[National Socialist), Mao, Pol Pot. All of them outperformed the 10 "bloodthirsty capitalists" in the link. That's worth knowing as we watch the Democratic Party's evolution from Main Street > liberal > progressive > socialist. What next? Will Democrats next come out of the closet as "Marxists" or go directly to communism as suggested by Democrats' support or toleration of identity politics, de facto elimination of borders, a coup, Newspeak, campus/corporate censorship, and antifa brownshirts?

Watching YouTube videos is a lot like watching the 11 o'clock news. Inflections in voices, someone nodding in agreement in the background, all designed to lead their customer base down the rosy path. Hillary didn't make the list. I guess she came in 11th. Now that's entertain.
