The whole women in combat thing is fine by me, however Men must register for the draft but women [[who want equal rights just like men) do NOT. This is sexist. If women want equal rights they should accept the bad ones AND the good ones.

After some cursory research it appears that the DoD COULD push the issue and have Congress amend the law. However the entire point of the draft is to have an adequate number of troops. We have that, through an all-volunteer force, which is working well for us and I think we should stick with, permanently [[we likely will). There would really have to be a World War for the draft to come back, and in that case that would give you just enough time to call your Congressman about the issue, slug down a martini, and kiss your ass goodbye.

Selective Service does have plans drawn up for a "medical draft" which is presently not limited to men. Congress would have to act to enact a medical draft and might choose to modify the existing plans. Some think that a medical draft is more likely than a traditional draft because shortages of doctors and nurses might occur before there is a shortage of troops.
