A couple of commenters to this article shared this facebook site that helps unite people to their missing and stolen pets. I hope the man gets his beloved doggie back:

Sad that a news station is more threatening to thieves than the police. I'm glad this man got his dog back, and even more glad the thieves have been caught. Hopefully they can be kept off the streets.

It's nice that it had a somewhat happy ending.

On the lighter side it brought to mind a local TV commercial from a couple of decades back. I wonder if anyone here remembers it?

I think it was for an alarm company or some other home security service. Two burglars have foiled whatever security was in place and are getting ready to split. One of them has a dog on the leash and says to the other, "Hey man, I get the dog." [Message being that a dog was not enough and you better get their service.]

It was probably best remembered for how flatly the actor delivered that punch line. The line was supposed to be funny but the lame delivery of it was funnier.

I remember that spot. It showed the perps rolling up the throw rug and other shots, before they got to the "exiting with the dog" scene.

Guardian Alarm 1-800-STAY OUT. The great Rube Weiss did the narration on the commercial.
