"Toronados received bolder front end styling with split grilles for 1968. Tail lights were moved to the bumper in the rear. The 425 engine was replaced with the 455. For even more power, buyers could opt for a Forced-Air induction system that included high-output cam, higher axle ratio and dual exhaust."

The City of Detroit has some pretty crappy pavement. My father tooled around with a Crown Victoria till he moved out in 2009. One test is that nasty stretch where Outer Drive crosses the RR tracks north of Plymouth Road. Those Ford Panthers just go "pum pum pum" over that without making the fillings fall out of one's teeth. An old pick up truck is another choice. Although a Crown Vic is an "old mans" car, I have to say they did ride nice.

Not a big Chryler fan but did not know there was an 300 version going back this far. How cool. Nice photo!

Definitely not a KIA. That's what they gave me [[rented in Windsor) when I visited Detroit. I felt like an idiot driving it around the Motor City.

A short history of the Lettercars from Chrysler, originally printed in Automobile Quarterly Volume XIII Number 4 article written by Allen Girdler published in 1975.
Due to this forum's quirks I am posting pairs to keep the page order.

My Buick Estate Wagon is great for cruising Detroit. Comfort, great design, and room for 8 friends. Plenty of horse under the hood too.

Right now isn't the best time but a convertible, the bigger the better, is also a great way to cruise. Jefferson, Belle Isle, and Downtown are especially great in a drop top.

If you have a nice car that you like, you are better off staying out of Detroit.
Stop signs and red lights are suggestions. Turn signals are an after thought.
A break down could be disastrous. Sad I know, but true.
