Metro-West Appraisal Co. LLC, a real estate appraisal firm, is moving its headquarters from Northville to the Chrysler House in downtown Detroit, the company said Tuesday.
The 25-year-old company will move 40 workers to the Chrysler House by March 2013 and plans to hire an additional 35 employees, Metro-West said in a press release Tuesday. The firm will occupy 8,000 square feet in the 23-story building, which was purchased by Quicken Loans Inc. founder Dan Gilbert's umbrella firm in August 2011.
"We are very excited to move to downtown Detroit so we can support the renaissance taking place in the city," said Brandon Boudreau, Metro-West Appraisal's chief operating officer. "Not only will the move be great for Detroit, it will also be a huge boost for our company morale. There's an incredible energy downtown and we're looking forward to exploring the city with the growing number of people working there."
The move will bring Chrysler House's occupancy rate to 89 percent. The structure, formerly the Dime Building, is one of 10 downtown buildings owned by Rock Ventures LLC, a Gilbert-owned entity that oversees his portfolio of companies.
