Default Riddle implicates John Conyers in Corruption Mess

I'm a tad surprised there hasn'e been a new thread on this.

In the article, Riddle says that Jim Pappas of Greektown fame, paid Riddle 20k for political consult. In return, Sam paid MonCon 10K as a finder's fee. Moreover, in a quid-pro-quo Monica asked her husband John Conyers to pressure the EPA to allow a Pappas owned hazardous waste well to start operation out in Romulus.

To complicate matters, the Detroit Pension Fund, of which MonCon was a boardmember, was a major investor in the Pappas owned well.

Other players in the effort to pressure the EPA: CCK and Debbie Stabanow's husband [[yes the same guy with the craigslist hooker).

In an undated letter, John Conyers sought to persuade the EPA to transfer the old permit to Papas. The agency decided instead to terminate the old permit and force him to seek a new one. That ruling has been delayed while the EPA decides whether he should get a new permit.

Is anyone surprised? It will be a puzzle to find out where the line is between normal interaction and corrupt action. Wouldn't a politician WANT a homie to get the contract? But if there is a question of subverting a normal process, or picking one over another because of factors not related to the selection process, here we go again....
