    Default Restaurants Open on Thanksgiving?

Any suggestions for restaurants in Detroit open on Thanksgiving? We had a nice dinner in the past at Pegasus but this year we'd like to keep out of the CBD because of the football game. No one in my family can cook worth a shit. Any fellow members ever do the Detroit Yacht Club on Thanksgiving? Thinking about that.

Sadly, the about.com "Detroit guide" is a suburbanite who listed only 7 options - not one in the city. Restaurants also don't appear to be very good at updating their websites.

We are going to try Mitchell"s Fish Market in Livonia. In the past we've done Marios in Midtown, Moose Preserve in Bloomfield, Mountain Jacks [[now gone), all pretty good. Maggianos in Troy, Buca De Pepa in Livonia, O'Maras in Berkley all have specials and are not listed on the website.

Big points for creativity, though. I'd go but pops doesn't have a passport. I like Windsor a lot. The river views are spectacular, and their "Riverwalk", Dieppe Park, has beaten the hell out of ours for decades.

This place might be open, but I think it's in Cleveland.

I wanted to be sure before posting a reply so I just telephoned Mario's. They'll be open from 11:30am until about 8:00pm on Thankgiving.
    Happy Thanksgiving Poobert to you&family!

Bo[[w)lings is actually in Toronto or St. Catherine's where they filmed half of the movie. If you were looking for it in reality it is supposed to take place in N Indiana, possibly, Gary, South Bend, or Fort Wayne.

Not really, up until 15 years ago or so there was still that hideous complex of parking lots, the Holiday Inn/Ramada and movie theatres right on the River blocking public access smack dab in the middle of town.

However, Mario's offers a shuttle to Lions game at the Detroit location. Many folks stay for dinner after returning from the game, so be aware, you may not dodge all the Lions' fans.
