I have started a group which I have named Strong Detroiters. The premise of the group is to meet at various places around town, to network, to have fun, to share ideas, to support one another, to learn about Detroit, to visit places throughout the city and more.

We call our gatherings, "Lets meet n the D"

Our next gathering is being planned now.
The premise of the gathering is for attendees to bring Christmas toys, which we will donate to Methodist Children's Sociaty a foster home and more. Here's the link to their website:

This past summer we had several gatherings in parks around the city.
We had the gatherings in Clark Park, Eastern Market, Palmer Park, Milliken State Park and Grand Circus Park.

A condensed list of events include:
Christmas Party, December 12th, Bookie's, we need help with decorations
February a black history gathering, details forthcoming. We want a speaker to talk about race in Detroit, past and present
March renting a gym for fun and games
April go to a place to talk about gardening
May not sure yet
June First annual Strong Olympics, team events like tug a war, farthest throw, one leg run and more.
We will also have gathering in parks around the city starting in June
Then in October we'll meet at restaurants

A series of original paintings under the Name Strong Detroit will be released soon.

Elias Khalil, co-author of "Detroit's Cass Corridor" will be the guest speaker at of gathering, Wed. Jan 16th, 6-8pm, at the Cass Cafe. He will talk about the history of the area and currently what's happening.
