Default Detroit Police/Fire Pension Fund Fires Attorney After FBI Probe

    http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/local_n...-swiftly-fired

“DETROIT [[WXYZ) - Pension board members weren’t buying what attorney Ron Zajac was selling them today. He made a last ditch effort to keep his job as the lawyer for the city’s police and fire pension board, but was voted out by a vote of 7 to 5.”

    Or: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/2...RO01/211020355

The vote to fire him should not even have been close.

Zajac was suspended by both the Police/Fire Retirement System and the Detroit General Retirement System last March, but was still receiving his $425,000 paycheck.

He has been the subject of a long running series of articles by both the FREEP and the Detroit News for: [[1) fostering a “pay-to-play” atmosphere within the two funds [[2) questionable insider deals where he personally benefitted hundreds of thousands of dollars and [[3) failed to protect the pension funds from risky real estate and private equity “investments” that caused the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars.

He was fired by only the Police/Fire pension fund – hopefully that will end the taxpayer funded attorney he was provided for his role by the FBI investigation of pension fund corruption,

    Now only two questions remain.

    1. When will the Detroit General Retirement System fire him and stop his no-show paycheck?
    2. When will he be indicted?

    Default

If they indict him, they'd have to do so to damn near everybody else who works for the city who's "double-dipping". So where do you start?
