Default The secret life of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Most people want to know where did this sect called Jehovah's Witnesses came from. It start in the mid 1870s founded by Charles Taze Russell after he founded the Zion Watch Tower Tract Society, a bible reading club.

Here's how Pastor Russell interpret the coming of Christ:

Jehovah Witnesses believed that Jesus Christ is a spirit creature, a super angel, the first creation of God; who prior to come to Earth as a man; existed in Heaven as Michael, the Archangel. Jesus started out as the 'Logos' or Michael, the Archangel. Jesus came to Earth born out the womb of the virgin Mary. While grewing up, Jesus was a perfect sinless man. In order to become Christ, the Messiah. He must be baptized, by John, The Baptist.

Jehovah's Witnesses believed that the Christian Cross is not the symbol of their denominational religion because is based out of Roman punishment of cruxification of criminals and fanatics.

They believed that Jesus died on the big wooden stake. His body was taken to a tomb where God took him away forever. Later God recreated his son Jesus and was sent back on Earth in many incarnate forms to tell his disciples that he had be resurrected. Then God took them away to Heaven and was appointed as Michael, the Archangel and recieve his throne of judgement. Jesus will never again return to Earth in visible form, but instead ruled invisibly from Heaven.

When the end times come, Jesus will execute judgement upon mankind. The unrighteous will be totally by the brightness of coming. The remaining 144,000 Jehovah's Witnesses will rule with him in Heaven.

Jehovah's Witnesses do door to door evangelical services. They don't vote, give in to blood transfusions, serve in any armed forces, salute any foriegn powers and celebrate holidays even birthdays. Jehovah's Witnesses don't even attend other places of worship [[I.E. Churches, Cathedrals, Synagogues, Mosques and other clubs). Jehovah's Witnesses cannot interact with any worldy or secular activities. Jehovah's Witnesses can partake in Holy Communion, but only the greatest ones who did the God's work are invited in. The least of the members cannot.

For over 140 years, Jehovah's Witnesses predicted the end of the world. They say that the world would end of 1914, 1925 and even 1975. But sign of the coming apocalypse didn't came and they are working on another year, time and hour for the end times.

They were persecuted in some nations and few negotiated in politics.

    Any thoughts?

Nope. just the same thoughts I have about other religions. I do remember, when I lived in Berkley, JH members would ring my doorbell at least once every couple of weeks. I told them every time that I wasn't interested until one day a pair of women asked what they could do to let them give me their message. I duggested they clean my house. They did. for about three months.

The last time JH were in our neighborhood we lucked out and got two teenage girls who apparently weren't buying the Kool-Aid they were being given about their religion.

They came to the door, made a knocking motion towards the door, then stood there talking to each other for a couple of minutes until they went off to do the same at the next house.

And I find it interesting that anyone would assume the "not attending other places of worship" is limited to only them. I remember my dad telling me that when he was at summer camp one year, he thought it would be fun to take the bus with the Catholic kids to go to mass. When he came back, he said one kid he knew from school lit into him about how he was going to hell and would report the incident to his parents because he dared to step foot inside a Catholic church. Crazy shit the hardcore Southern Baptists do/think could fill a book, just like a lot of religions, JH included.

Thank you for the information, Danny. When I was a kid, we had a family in our neighborhood that were Jehovah's Witnesses. There was just the one boy in the family, and we all played with him. He was just like the rest of us kids running around. Then came Halloween. We were all trick or treating around the neighborhood, and when we went to their door, did we get a lecture! Mr. Wazkabojnik was horrified that we were behaving in such a heathen fashion and he went on and on about being condemned for begging and worshiping the devil if we did not repent or some such. We tried to be polite, but it was really hard to get away from him. After about ten minutes, I think we all just said Thank you and ran off to get more heathen candy from friendlier portals.

Meantime, we get our callers at least twice a month here. There are more than one sect that come around. Which ones give the Awake! and the Watchtower? We also get the Latter Day Saints, who crack me up when they introduce themselves as Elder Soandso when they can't be a day over 20.

Watchtower outlines the general Bible chapters and "morals" that will be emphasized that week.

Awake is a more enterainment/recreational/informative publication.

    Jehovahs Witnesses who are they?
    A) They are at your door to recruit you for their watchtower society corporation, they will say that *we are just here to share a message from the Bible*... this is deception right off.
    B) Their *message* creed is a false Gospel that Jesus had his second coming in 1914.The problem with this is it's not just a cute fairy tale,Jesus warned of the false prophets who would claim *..look he is here in the wilderness,or see here he is at the temple*.
    C) Their anti-blood transfusion ban against *whole blood* has killed thousands.
    D) once they recruit you they will *love bomb* you in cult fashion to also recruit your family & friends or cut them off.

We had a young husband and wife for neighbors. Kept their religion to themselves. They were quiet and really nice people.

Last time anyone rang our bell, it was an older JW lady and a young male proselyte. She let him do all the talking.

I said I accepted all religions except any which claimed to be the only way to God.

He got a look on his face that indicated he'd never been told that particular opinion.

We bid each other farewell...and once in a while I think I hear that doorbell ring...but when I'm working in the basement, it's tough to tell for sure.

    Cheers!

We had a JW assembly hall built about 500 feet from our house a dozen years ago. It is actually not bad looking. The witnesses pitched in to build a nice fence and flower beds a couple of years ago. They dont bother us too much but of course every couple of months they come a knockin'. I usually take the Watchtower copy they offer, and I send them on their way like kids come trick or treating. I feel like I have done my good deed for the day. When I lived in the city, they would ring the doorbell on saturday mornings around 8 O'clock. That would really piss me off.

We don't have doorbells which puts an end to JW, and other interruptions for the most part. Visitors who come are 'expected' and called first and will knock if we don't see them arriving... One day we'll get the bell fixed but for now it works to not be bothered.

I have a few friends that are ex-JW who speak of the the rules and regulations that have changed over the years. Too late for some who endured the ban on transfusions of blood and other things. I've tended to respect their style of trying to stay out of the mainstream of crass commercialism and the silly end of partisan, loyalty-based politics.

They often intimidate Christians and others when it comes to the Bible because they put a very strong emphasis on reading and study of their 'version' whereas some churches just skim sections and scriptures unless they have a serious minded Bible Study or a minister that actually uses one during sermons!

The fix for that in part is to be like the Bereans: 2 Timothy 2:15 -- Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The kid was misinformed or a artistic liberties with the story have been taken. There is no prohibition on any one of any faith entering a Catholic church or attending Mass, for that matter. After all, how could there be? The churches of Europe and many large American cities have their doors open to anyone all day long.

You have to be Catholic [[or Orthodox) to take Communion, though.

Many years ago they used to try and discourage us Catholic school kids from going into other denomination's churches, but there was no outright ban on it. We were told, however, not to take part in the services. We could sit but not participate, such as when we went to a Lutheran wedding or Methodist funeral.

When I went to religious instruction in the 50's, we were instructed it was our duty as Catholics to convert one person to the church. The thought that I had a reserved seat on the bus to heaven, while my non-catholic friends might very well be left behind always made me question the teaching.

I have no use for religion and once borrowed a centerfold from a single friend of mine and tacked it on the door so these people would stop coming around ..it worked . My late mother in law had to stop going door to door because of failing eyesight , bad knee's , and high blood pressure at the age of 80 , her fellow JH would barely speak to her after that ....
