Another project completed this month- a pair of early 1940s GE traffic signals. General Electric signals began popping up in the early 1940s, primarily on Grand River, as the first overhead-mounted type signals. Most of the Grand River GEs were replaced in the 1960s, when many intersections were updated and also received pedestrian signals. Some of the decomissioned signals were re-purposed throughout the city and saw service until just this year. I bought these signals this past year and decided to restore them to their original GE green color. Hope you enjoy the photos!!
