Default Positive expectations of Detroit in 2013

What are your expectations for Detroit in 2013, regardless if it's not applicable. I'm so looking forward to 2013 with the completion on certain developments. Hopefully in December there will be some announcement about the new Redwing hockey development and Woodward lightrail construction has started. Also, Gilbert's development of the Woodward block and hopefully Monroe block too. Now of course we all know the schools, police/fire department needs major help, beside that what do you expect "development" wise in 2013?

Total destruction of the eastside, minus a few neighborhoods, the rest turned into Christmas tree farms, Eastside of Detroit returning to mother nature, rest in piece Eastside,

I would like to see/hear a master plan for land use, reforestation, eco-friendly connectivity for neighborhoods. The Woodward streetscape in Midtown is a perfect example to increase foot traffic and beautification along main arteries. It need to be applied to every main arteries in detroit. Lighting is a huge concern and hopes there's a solid plan in place to address it.

    Pretty much.

Much of the westside outside of Rosedale Park, Palmer Park and Sherwood Forest isn't far behind from reaching that point either.

In fairness, though, the death of many communities will also mean that those which remain will be nicer, cleaner, and safer places to live.

We'll see land usage that's more in line with with our population size and financial abilities.

As usual more public services cuts, more proposed financial woes, more vacant buildings, more arson fires, more violent crimes, more brothers killing brothers, more black middle class flight to the suburbs, more population decreases, more Detroit Public School woes, more plantation politics and more corrupt ward system.

But the bright side is Dan Glibert is creating his 'Glibertown' Community in Downtown Detroit. More Downtown Detroit Days by Somerset Mall Detroit. More venues and regional retail stores in Downtown Detroit. Mayor KING BING will be out pretty soon. Detroit might get a first white mayor since 1973. Tigers might go to the World Series and lose. Red Wings will lost the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Western Confernce Cup semifinals. Pistons will not go the NBA Playoffs. And the Detroit Lions will lose the NFC Championship. They were so close to go to the Super Bowl.

Hopefully, 2013 will see the Woodward light rail project actual move ahead. Also, greatly expanded urban farming.

Here are my somewhat bold predictions for 2013 in Detroit:

    1. A new Red Wings arena will be announced. It will be in Foxtown, behind the Fox Theater, or just north of there. It is a good time to announce because the Red Wings are sadly in decline. They will lose in the first round of the playoffs next year.

    2. Gilbert will announce the construction of a 12-15 story residential tower on the Hudson's block. It will be garish, and horribly ugly to those of us who appreciate classic architecture. It will be wildly successful.

    3. The neighborhoods will continue their sad decline. As some have mentioned, the Eastside will be the most affected. There will be some traction to urban farming, just to get the land back onto productive tax rolls.

    4. Midtown continues it's rise as a genuine urban neighborhood. Housing is short, and at least 1 more large apartment building is announced for construction. Whole Foods opens, soon we will see a rush of regional/national chains opening here.

    5. The State will come to an agreement with the city regarding Belle Isle. I don't know the exact form this would take, but it will get done. We will see some immediate improvement on the island as the state tries to ward off bad mojo by actually doing things.

That is what I have, hope that things are good for Detroit in 2013.

I like that, in turn, it will easier for police patrol and responses due to having a clearly distinctive info of neighborhoods. Each neighborhood districts should have new centralized, VISIBLE police stations with plenty of police presence and patrol. This includes same for fire departments, makes people livelihood easier. Density is key for 2013. and...JOBS JOBS JOBS!! Keep people busy and actually being productive, responsible citizens. Crime will decrease for sure, people will too busy working, not setting up to rob or kill someone.

Oh man, how historically cool would it be if they turned that castle on Rosa and Grand River back into a police station/mini-precinct!
