Default Detroit Man Killed Trying To Protect Grandchild

Over 200 murders this year already. Time to bring back STRESS and crack skulls. Until this shit gets under control, Midtown can open as many coffee shops and Gilbert/Illitch can buy up all the pretty buildings they want, but everyone outside Detroit will still consider Detroit a dump. Chicago is violent and still not nearly this bad considering they have 4x the population.

found a good interactive crime map online earlier from the news. A good guide for the streets and areas in town where if you get a flat tire you should probably just drive on the rim. There are areas around Detroit where in a 2 by 2 block chunk there have been 7 or 8 shot and several people killed since May. Then you take the google map look and come to find that there weren't too many people there to begin with. Lots of people move out of Detroit. Many of them because they lost friends or family to gun violence but if you think about it. Since Y2K close to 5000 have been murdered in Detroit. Add justified homicide the number is probably 6K or more. Per the 2010 census the city has a pop density of 5142 per square mile. Since 2000 its safe to guess that a square mile of detroit residents were gunned down or otherwise killed

Vietnam vet story on page 4A of Free Press.

Two teens ambushed on Detroit street on page 9A of Free Press.

These senseless murders should be front page news every day.

It's no longer are news when it happens everyday. A front page of murders won't sell any papers.

If we can figure this out so easily, then why can't the DPD? Perhaps they have been concentrating resources in this area, but if not, they clearly should have been doing so well before this tragedy.

Most murder victims know their killers, it's usually not a random killing.
