  1. Default Suburbs to City Residents - Stay out of our parks!

Heh - A little suburbs vs. city battle from the south side of the river:

    http://www.windsorstar.com/Life/resi...776/story.html

TECUMSEH, Ont. -- Deputy Mayor Tom Burton is so convinced the town’s new dog park is being overused by non-resident dogs that he wants the OPP to collar the offending owners and charge them with trespassing.

Burton got town council Tuesday to approve a motion to make the town’s new off-leash dog park off-limits to anyone who doesn’t buy a Tecumseh dog tag for their pet.

I'm sorry...what is the controversy here? The park requires a local dog tag.... inst that like a local library requiring the nominal fee for the library card ?

Andrew could you give the rest of the forumians a little background on why the city residents are over using the village's parks?

Its because of the city workers ongoing 11 week strike, the parks /fields are a mess in Windsor so "city residents" are going to suburban parks [[ which are clean and cut ) to enjoy.
You see the city workers are on this mission , and striking , because the city is planning on taking "future", yes future, not present employees, subsidized health benefits away from them. Meaning, future employees would have to subsidize , through the pay checks a deduction,,, Can you believe it.. Welcome to 2009. Only two places in Ontario [[ Windsor and Vaughan) even have this buttered option. No one else does....... Well I feel they need to be on strike a little longer to get a dose of reality.. They couldnt have picked a worse time, or worse economy to strike about a issue that only effects future hires.. They truly have no idea how lucky they are to even have a good steady job. All one has to do is self fund these expenses , through a deduction, thats what the federal employees in Canada have always done. There is not alot of public sympathy for them and alot of Windsorites begging for their stable jobs.. I work in Windsor, family from there,, its a very interesting situation, compared to when I come home to Detroit every night..Those employees really have no concept of hardship.

Wait a minute - I thought Canada already had completely socialized health care - what is this about deductions and benefits....?

    Socialized basic/emergency health care.
    Dental? You pay.
    Vision? You pay.
Medications? You pay, unless they're on a specific limited list. Diabetic? All those supplies come out of your own pocket--thought there are some programs available for those that need it, but its definately not something covered in general.
And a few other CYA items.

Contracts usually cover what the socialists don't.

    Alex.
