vacant land around Fellowship Chapel [[east Old Redford)

Anyone familiar with the history of how the land around the Fellowship Chapel [[7707 W. Outer Drive) came to be almost totally vacant? The only difference between this spot and the tidy neighborhoods 400 yards away in any direction seems to be frame construction vs. brick.

That area used to the 3 blocks of Brightmooresque wood frame ranch homes in the middle of College Park built by near low-income working families. D.H. Burham may have supported those plots of 5 city blocks of it between 1925 to 1930. It's was well kept up until the early 1980s when 3 city blocks of it were started to crumble. When low-income black folks arrived in Detroit's College Park since the late 1960s most of them bought those wood frame shacks. Middle income black families were started to bought most of the brick homes when lots of Jewish and middle income white families acclerated to the suburbs. By 1990 to 2000 the whole community became mostly black. Five city block of those wood frame homes became suddenly vacant, turned into secret drug houses and later looted. Except Ferguson St. north of 6 Mile Rd to Curtis which its well kept up to this day. Parts of retail area on 6 Mile Rd. to Southfield FWY. were messed up and torn down. I used to lived near that area back in the 1980s.
