    Why? Because large empty commercial buildings are a rarity in this city. There are a dozen empty warehouse buildings that would work for this south of corktown.

    Agree that a warehouse is hardly the best use for the site. They are just trying to grab the 3 million bucks before it goes back to the feds. On the other hand, if it must be done, there is enough land at the site to incorporate a warehouse with a really cool retro exterior, along with seating for a small ballpark and housing. Of course this would take some thought and care - neither is likely.

    What's wrong with where they are now? Tons of empty factories all around them if they want to expand, and I doubt there's much competition for the real estate.

    Stay of Mt. Elliott, the east side has enough empty buildings.

    I think they should put a Walmart with an oil change place there. That would be useful for downtown workers who drive to work everyday instead of taking the bus.
