    Default Sunny day in Detroit

Here is another video I made yesterday. .

it contains downtown, riverfront, Dequindre Cut, Midtown, greektown.
Imovie for some reason made the video part all slower, but its still good.

There were so many people downtown walking around and eating lunch at CM it was hard to ride my bike on the sidewalks.

French, you sure have a great eye for the banal in our town.

I agree. Thanks for these, French.

Lonyo, one of my favorite high school friends lived at the first house on the I-94 exit...big house on the east side of the street [[with a tunnel to the garage to escape the Purple Gang's Dyers and Cleaners War actions). I will never be able to see your handle without thinking of her...haven't seen her in over twenty-five years!

    Cheers

French777, thanks for the pics and the video. Tri-Centennial State Park is coming along nicely. Just wondering, does anyone know if they going to remove that large hill dividing the park?

I could see how it might be a fun snow hill for kids to play on and possibly even block sound from Chene Park, but it blocks some of the view down the riverfront.

It's hot and its summer. Get use to it. Global Warming is here. There will be over 100 degrees everywhere in the U.S.

I was talking to an engineer a few days ago that left Detroit a few years ago to work for a place in North Carolina, that has offices here. He's back for a week, work related. He said his wife has been ready to move back since they got there, and now he is ready to come back too.

Not to rain on your parade but I really don't think it would be to difficult to navigate the bike. There were some people there yes.

I kind of grew up in that area a few hundred years ago or so. Wasn't one of the houses on Lonyo @ I-94 exit owned by a family who ran a funeral home in that area? Thanks for bringing back some fond memories.

The DNR does not have any specific plan for that mound at this time, though there is talk of removing a portion of it. I made the suggest that they add wind turbines atop the mound. It's pretty windy up there and it would be pretty awesome seeing some turbines in our city skyline. It would be a great way to re-brand Detroit as a green city.

That wind turbine would make the city seem more "Green"

From fratman[[formally ditman). French-watching your video made me wish even more how much I miss being able to drive downtown on a weekend & enjoy the riverfront & all the related events, festivals, etc. No waterfront in Dallas. No casinos[[everyone drives to Oklahoma or Shreveport. Although we have some pretty big fireworks on the 4th nothing matches watching from the riverfront area & hearing the reverb from the downtown skyscrapers. The riverfront walk looks very inviting. Sure wish the city could take a clue from Cleveland or Baltimore as how to revitalize the downtown area. Keep up the good work. My friend was the youngest [[by far) of the Alexander Dry Cleaners company, but those houses were/are huge...especially between the freeway and McGraw.

Their basement was another world, and the tunnel to the garage [[and the reason behind it, probably the first time I'd EVER heard of the Purple Gang) was so exotic...but we lost her to NYC and she never looked back.

No offense, but between that soundtrack and the choppy video, I threw up all over my keyboard. I think you might need a better video editor.

French, I was walking all along the Dequindre Cut and the Riverwalk that day. I think we must have just missed each other.

    Thanks for posting that video.

When I was walking the only other people I saw was a family of 3 with a little boy. It does not take to long to bike up and down that DCut
