Stylin, The article calls Nugent a Romney "surrogate" whatever that means. Not a word is mentioned about Nugent being a Ron Paul supporter. A cursory Google search portrays him as a Romney supporter.

To escape your suppositions and substitute them with real numbers taken from today's unemployment numbers, "the unemployment rate for white men and women was unchanged at 7.4 percent, while 184,000 more black American's went without a job in June, for an unemployment rate of 14.4 percent."

Even more alarming is the unemployment rate among black youth, ages 16-19, jumped a full 2.8 points, to 39.3 percent. That's nearly double the 20.9 percent unemployment rate for whites in the same age demographic.

It is difficult to blame those numbers on Romney or Paul. Romney hasn't been a part of the federal government and Paul didn't vote for all those wars and deficits. It must be Bush's fault.

2) Blocking appointments to the Fed
3) Threatening to default on the national debt
4) Delaying the transportation bill until it becomes difficult to implement by waiting until midway through construction season
5) forcing $30.5 billion in cuts to discretionary spending, which cost over 300,000 jobs
6) decimating fire/police protection grants, costing more jobs

1. 97% of African Americans will remain slaves. 2% will be emancipated free men. Plots of fugitive slave escape to Canada, Mexico and Africa, Australia and China will loom.

2. 70% of Hispanics and Mexicans, if they across to a Confederate America, will be captured, face possible deportation or became slaves forever. Escape is the only solution for freedom of immigrats from a Confederate America. Chinese immigrants who work on railroads in the west will either become slaves to deport back to their homeland.

3. Confederate America will possible ally with Germany and Austria in World War I. If the Germans-Austrians won Europe will fall and last will be Communist Soviet Union. With complete ethnic extermination of Kiev-Rus descedents and all Jews. If not Confederat America will wait until the right moment of next World War.

4. Conferderate America will increase its ecomonic boom and global trade and developing technology. Temperance to stop alcoholic drinks will be legal thus no prohibition. The Stock market will not crash in 1929, but there will short depressions from 1930 to 1933. Thanks to Chancellor Hitler in power.

If the South had won, we would not be the United States of America. We would be the Confederate States of America, south of the Mason-Dixon Line, and some other country north of it.

Its highly unlikely that the South would have ever won the war. The country was moving from an agrarian based economy to a manufacturing based economy. The South winning the war would have bought a halt to that and that simply could not happen. The northern manufacturing economy needed cheap labor and they couldn't have that labor in the fields picking cotton.

Danny, You are thinking and staying on topic unlike some. Since hypothetical results can't often be proven or disproven, perhaps you are right. I'm going to do the same thing you did but with a different result. In the 1830's the British took a series of measures to end slavery within the British Empire. These were expensive but much cheaper per slave than fighting a civil war not to mention the huge loss of lives. My guess is that slavery would not have lasted much longer for a variety of reasons. First, a precedent had been set. Other civilized countries had ended it and the US would have become a bit of a pariah state. Boycotts could have been organized against US slavery at home and abroad. New technology was being impeded but inevitable which would have eliminated much of the need for cheap field labor. The colonies in which there were no slaves became more populous and more rich than those in which slavery flourished. There were, in addition, US states which had eliminated slavery. The religious animosity was growing toward slavery and had a role, for instance, in ending slavery in New Jersey.

I very much doubt that slaves would still be hand picking cotton in Alabama when WWII broke out for reasons given. Much of the crop work today is done instead by illegal aliens who work for wages American refuse. Instead of slavery, we now have a caste system so lettuce is a nickel cheaper or packing plant and construction workers, soon to be issued work permits, who can be hired for half the wages of union construction workers... or less. Since slaves were very expensive and lower caste workers can today be hired so cheaply, not to mention imports produced by cheap foreign labor, and there is not much demand for unskilled labor, slavery was doomed a long time ago.

If there was a Conferderate United States of America in the 20th Centrury this would happen:

1. In the 1940s WWII happens in Europe, The border pact between The Soviet Union and Nazi-Germany was signed. Germany seized control of Austria, Czechoslovakia. Poland is crushed and conquered. The Italians joined the Germans. France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Demark, Belgium, Sweden, Norway had been conquered. Spain, Portugal and Switzerland, Monaco, Lexembourg, Albania, Greece and Romania will join the Germans. The Conferderate Americans and Mexicans will also help the Germans of destroy the Soviet Union. China, India, Indonesia and Australia surrenders to Imperial Japan. Canada, Brazil, Colombia remain neutral. Most Pan-America-Caribbean Islands will be under Confederate America and Mexican Hands. Germany will quickly seize control of all of North African Sahara lands. They take control of Palestine, Syria, Saudia Arabia, Iraq, Iran, and Turkey to hold off its world's oil supply. The Confederates and Germans will control 40% of the world's oil. Neutral nations must join ecomonic relationship with the new powers or face embargos.


2. The WWII is over by 1950. World Peace is Restored. they would be no development of nuclear bomb or other nuclear power until 1966. The Confederates tested their first nuclear bomb and Imperial Japan followed in 1970 thus Cold War begins.

3. In the 1950s Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues, Doo wop did not exist because most underpopulated blacks are still slaves. Confederate technology will keep blacks within their plantation lines or face being killed. The development of television, improvement of radio, videos will be credited by the Japanese.

4. After WWII is over in 1950, there in Confederate America there will be no Brown vs. Board of Education case. Since 10% blacks are freed. Some of them would to form primative schoolhouses. Freed black chlidren will recieve primative education and culturally biased history from whites up to 6th grade. The closer jobs for freed blacks past and present is working in 'house negro' setting. They would be working for few dollars in hour while living in squatter shacks. There will be pre-civil rights protests but they might be killed, go to jail or turn into life of slavery if they defy the confederate constitutional laws. Colored immigrants will recieve 'separate but equal' enviroments as blacks. Moving to Canada or some African nations would their great escape from 'White Power!' in the nations of the Earth.

5. There will be no 'Rosa Parks' like bus boycotts. If Rosa Parks was born a slave, her history would plot to her escape to freedom. If she was born a freed woman, her history would set to 'house negro' setting or move to another area where blacks are free from Caucasian oppression. Same thing would happen to Martin Luther King, Malcolm Little [[X) and Jesse Jackson.

7. There will be no counterculture movement in Confederate America, as in no hippies and flowerchildren. In the meantime by 1962 the Japanese had developed their first rocket into space. Their space program developed in 1964. By 1968 The Japanese sent their first man into space. Finally 1976 The Japanese sent their astronauts to the moon and back. The Japanese Space Program develop their first space station in 1979 lasting to 1998 with a complex space station. The Japanese will plan to send man into Mars in 2015.

8. In Confederate America most cities will be white dominate including Detroit. Coloreds who are free are assigned to live in internment reservations. Coloreds and Blacks who are slaves are living in their plantations until their master will emancipate them or being sold to another master.
