Obviously not issued by the manufacturer. The "A" stands for antique? I'd guess it's required for insurance purposes to uniquely identify the car. I assume it was insured.

You have to think thatthis would not be the easiest crime to cover up, unless the person who stole it puts it into a personal collection and never shows it or drives it. Hopefully, it will turn up when the thief or thieves try to make money by selling it.

This almost happened to a friend at the dream cruise with the exact same easy to steal truck the only thing that saved his truck, trailer and classic Stang was that he took 30 seconds to pull the trigger wire of the trucks starter solenoid.
He only found a punched ignition and saved his weekend.

It's quite possible that whoever stole this was really interested in stealing the pickup. Those pickups are both easy to steal and valuable for their in-demand parts. The Model A may have been just a bonus, and perhaps an unwanted one. Someone may find it sitting in an alley or a field somewhere around here.

Detroit—Police have recovered the 1930 Classic Ford Model A convertible and its transport trailer today on the city's east side.
The car was recovered undamaged, said Dearborn Police Lt. Wayne Seccombe.
"It was perfectly fine," said Seccombe. "What do you do with something like that? You can't go for a ride in it."
The car was discovered in an area near Mt. Elliott and Gratiot, said Seccombe

There is more to it than that. Why would someone someone go through all that only to dump it on the east side? Tome this smacks of someone doing some dirt and then putting it somewhere that people wouldn't think twice about in order to take the light off of them...

Also, it has been a well known practice to "do an insurance job" on cars when people no longer want to pay their monthly car notes. They simply dump them in an empty lot and set them on fire.

A long time ago I had a car stolen at 13 mile and Van Dyke and it was found by Joy Rd in Detroit.

That truck is worth more just for the parts alone. F-250 oh yeah.....
