Default Rev. Jesse Jackson takes aim at gunshops

The agenda here is broader than what is presented on the surface.

Rev. Jesse Jackson takes aim at gunshops, holding protests blaming the businesses for joblessness

The Reverend Jesse Jackson says joblessness leads to despair, then people in despair turn to guns and violence.

He says get rid of the guns and the jobs will come back.

This guy needs a clue. Most criminals don't buy their guns in gun shops.

If a lack of gun shops equaled a lack of crime then Detroit would be one of the safest cities in the country!

Jesse Jackson, along with Al Sharpton have to justify their existence. Criminals don't purchase guns legally.

Target a legitimate business for closure to create jobs? How much more insignificant can these guy get?

They just want to get shot at.

If Darwin was correct, then it is the duty of someone to help them out.

Precisely! I bet they have armed security in some of their travels! Where are Jesse and Al they if someone is kicking down your back door in the night?

Right! I almost appreciate the absurdity of Jackson et al coming forth with such mess. It can't be said they're white-hair right-wingers coming to the hood to dictate!

How we gonna justify this? We gotta go around this corner too? Right? NOT.

More people need to see that the 'left' orb of politics and policy does not always have our best interests at heart. THIS IS A SHINING EXAMPLE!

The real criminals are on Wall Street, and inside the halls of Congress, Jessie.

    Hard to argue with that.

With all the problems in the city the last place I would start is a place where only law abiding can buy a gun. I would like to see the statistics on how many criminals are carrying a legally purchased gun with all the backgrounds checks and have a CCW/CPL I would bet its close to zero.

I was there. Jessie was not. There was only around 4-5 protesters but there had to be over 30 counter protesters.

All the local news were there and filmed the whole thing and interviewed several people, but for some reason there is NO VIDEO on any of their websites. I wonder why?????

The people committing the crimes aren't in despair. Most of them are sociopaths and aren't qualified for a job and don't give a damn about a job.

Is it possible to use a time machine to go back and teach their parents how to raise decent human beings?

The point is the gun shop is a "symbol"....but Jesse is almost always demonstrating in front of that gunshop.

Let's face it urban American has turned into a war zone.

The "left" orb of politics? Neither Jesse Jackson nor Al Sharpton have ever held elected office a day in their lives.

If you want to characterize them as being representative of the Left, then fine, as long as you accept Pat Robertson and the late Jerry Falwell as being the representatives for the Right.

It seems a double-standard that almost every 16-year-old north of the Zilwaukee has a .22 and there's very little gun violence and yet Jackson runs around demanding the closure of urban gun shops "so jobs can return."

While Jackson is a self inflated blowhard agitater looking for a cause to fight to keep his name up there with the blowhard-in-chief Sharpton I do think that if we could close ALL retail outlets selling guns and destroy ALL guns in private hands we would reduce murders by many thousands per year. And because it was my idea I think I should be allowed to keep my guns.
