    Default 26 Elizabeth W

The addy above today would be sitting under the Fox Theatre.

Where would that addy have been pre number change?

Can old addresses be looked up via address in the city directories, to see whom or what may have been living there?

While I'm asking this....is there a rule of thumb or directory that can transcrible old to new numbers?

The pre 1921 address would be 16 W. Elizabeth.

So from geographical perspective, we are still under the Fox, correct?

That was the site of the Detroit Hotel. Torn down in 1924 for the building of the auditorium of the State/Palms, etc. theater.

Thanks for that tidbit EastsideAl.... the former Grand Circus Theatre [[not to be confused with the one that today is the Detroit Opera House)... was a 1913 built 1,300 seat theatre that was also torn down [[in 1923) for the larger 2,994 seat State/Palm/Fillmore [[1925). Apparently the Grand Circus Theatre and Detroit Hotel coexisted on the site of the present Francis Palms Building and Fillmore Theatre.

As did the Hotel Powers [[that hotel I found a picture of), and the cigar store, candy store, and restaurant it had at street level.
