The first crusie ship [[Yorktown) of the season is scheduled to arrive at the Port of Detroit on June 23rd in conjunction with the River Days festival.

The Appledore IV, a two-masted tall sailing ship, is also expected to dock at the port during the weekend festival, and will be open for public tours June 22-24.

Jamian also confirmed Tuesday that a ferry service will run between the port and Belle Isle for the upcoming Detroit Grand Prix.

Wow, thanks for posting that. Several stops in Detroit this summer and one criuise is already sold out. Nice to hear such encouraging news. After the Cobo expansion is done Detroit is going to have quite the nice riverfront.

Here's a brochure promoting the Yorktown's July 7-14, 2012 cruise, which departs from Detroit.

    From the brochure:

The Yorktown is the perfect vessel for relaxed and convivial exploration of America’s great coastal waterways. Built in Florida in 1988 specifically for coastal cruising and certified by the U.S. Coast Guard, Yorktown flies the American flag and is staffed by friendly and experienced American officers and crew. 257 feet long, 43 feet wide, with a draft of 8 feet, Yorktown is able to maneuver in secluded waterways and visit small ports that are inaccessible to larger vessels. And Yorktown’s American registry makes it possible to operate domestic itineraries unavailable to foreign-flag ships.

Sounds like some pretty fun stuff. Hope the ships fill up and this stuff continues.
