Great thread -this ought to placed permanently at the top of Detroit yes.

The only negative is - not enough pictures - remember those of us who live in Texas are architecturally deprived.

How's that great church on Woodard and Philadelphia doing Abysinian [[sp). How is that neighborhood doing?

I was hoping others would post, but requests will be filled when available. Woodward Avenue Presbyterian Church 8501 Woodward built in 1911 Woodward Avenue Upper Piety Row was designed by Cleveland based Sidney Rose Badgley. Badgley also designed Immanuel Presbyterian Church at 330 West Grand Boulevard. I do not have a image but when its available I will post it.

Elijah E. Myers has the distinction of being the only architect to design 3 state capitols [[Michigan, Colorado and Texas) I am posting one of his Detroit commissions, Helen Newberry Nurses Home 100 East Willis built in 1888.
For all the Detroiters in Texas the next time some Texan gets all huffy about how great they are just ask why they could not find a home grown architect to design their own state capitol. I bet they do not have a clue who actually designed the building.
