Preservation Detroit's free Third Friday Lecture tonight [[July 20) features prolific Detroit architect Leonard Willeke.
"After studying and working in Ohio, California, and Paris, Willeke began his own practice in Detroit. Edsel and Eleanor Ford, Mrs. William Clay Ford, and Henry Ford were among his many prominent residential clients. He is best known for his work in Detroit’s finest neighborhoods – Indian Village, Boston-Edison, Palmer Woods, the Grosse Pointes and buildings on the Fair Lane estate."
Guest lecturer Stephanie O’Connor discusses Willeke’s architectural contributions to Detroit.
Open to the public. Free of charge. Mackenzie House. 7pm.

Thx for the info on tonight's lecture Kathleen! In honor of the occasion Leonard Willeke's home in Grosse Pointe. Those pesky trees always in the way. I would highly recommend driving by the home especially at night the barreled ceiling in the living room is worth trip.For all of you Leonard Willeke and Detroit architecture fans....
