Curious to know if these two houses, both on the south side of Boston Blvd. between 3rd and the Lodge, were also designed by him:

Any info you could share would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

They do have the "Marr" look! Information on architects in B-E is always hard to find. While the historic district revels in its past residents they seem to not care much about the designers who created their real legacy. Its interesting I have an almost complete catalog from Indian Village and a fairly decent catalog from Palmer Woods and both areas were very helpful [[Sherwood Forest is kind enough to publish their catalog on their website). Although when I tried to contact the historian for B-E I received a very rude reply, which helps answer for me why they are usually treated like the ugly step sister of the historic districts.

Great thread ! I have a question . Does anyone have any info, or old/vingtage photos on the oldsmoblie mansion on Grosse Ile ?
I've done a quick Google search and didn't find much. I know it was built in 1916.
I heard that one of his daughters died in the swimming pool and they had it filled in . I've seen the titles of the lip of the pool and have been in the mansion ,but I was always curious more about this place .
Any info would be great !
    Thanks !

I think the City is working on one around La Salle Gardens. From what I understand the neighbourhood layout and park were designed by Charles Platt, and the scheme was intended to be repeated. I think the corner buildings are oriented to the side streets [[not La Salle) despite the fact that they hold La Salle addresses as part of this Platt design.

One of the many firehouses designed by George Mason in the city. Also includes an historic image with the hose drying tower intact.

Geez, I hope you're ok, p69. When did they get rid of the tower portion of the firehouse?

Thx Stromberg complications due to diabeties. I am not sure when the tower was removed most of the early 20th century houses have all had their towers removed. I have a feeling it happened when natural hoses were discontinued, I have a feeling somebody on here can answer that.

Southofthebloor I may have a clue to 7640 LaSalle Blvd. I have posted 7640 and 1012 Burns built in 1907 designed by Grylls and Gies. Very striking similarities between the 2 homes.

Another Roland Gies design. Those pesky trees keep getting in the way, but there is a very nice view of the lake.
