Is Detroit a hotbed of NEW architectural talent the past 20 years ?

Call me a tin foiled hat individual but the way business had been done in this city for the past 10 or 20 years will put doubt and conspiratory thoughts in some bloggers minds. It may not be that GM has penis envy over the new taller Hudson's tower but the taller tower is a sign of the new guard which is somethiing that some elements in the city don't want to see. It may or may not be GM or some other entity that control the elected officials and others who work for the city who are easily controlled or manipulated to put red tape in any unwanted project. Carmack is about to prove that to you. The Hudson's tower or whatever it's going to named is the new direction while GM is the old direction that some want the city to stay in. I love my automobiles and I think God for having Detroit to put the world on wheels but Detroit need to stop remaining a one horse town

Father Gabriel Richard is reputed to have said mass in the house.

I know this is an old post, but I don't think it was answered. There are only two universities in Metro Detroit that have architecture programs: Lawrence Tech and UofD. If you include Ann Arbor, then you get UofM's program too.

As to numbers of actual graduates, no idea. Is Detroit a hotbed of NEW architectural talent? No. A good chunk of Michigan architecture graduates leave the state because the profession is difficult and you need to go where you get a job. There just aren't that many design job openings in the area. If everyone stayed, you'd have a majority of unemployed architecture graduates every June.
