    Default Pete Hoekstra's Twitter fail.

The GOP can simply not stay out of it's own way. They demand to be taken seriously when saying things like this:
    http://twitter.com/petehoekstra/status/2208228550

    The response:

"Congressman Hoekstra did not compare the ongoing violence in Iran to when Democrats shut down the House chamber during the energy debate last summer," said spokesman Dave Yonkman. "The two situations do share the similarity of government leadership attempting to limit debate and deliberation, and the ability of new technologies to bypass their efforts and allow for direct communication. That's the only point that he was trying to make."

So...they're different...but the same? Stop digging...and for god's sake, STOP TWITTERING.

I read his tweet and had the same feeling as when I saw my parents dancing to InnaGaddaDavida.

Some things should not be attempted.

Right you are, Bats. There is little to criticize about the Twitter except the degree of thoughtlessness involved in his comment. Maybe Pete had little more to do than fiddle with Twitter, passing on a meandering thought. Seems pretty innocent to me.

But if it had been a democrat writing as Hoekstra had, you'd be all over it like stink on$#@t.

Instead of reading the content of a document and forming an opinion based on form, context, and intent, the political bigot looks to see who wrote it, then makes a judgment call founded on prejudice.

It was only my personal opinion that Pete had nothing better to do. I was giving the man the benefit of the doubt in regard to how he spends [wastes] his time and the motives for posting as he did.

The left, as you have correctly pointed out, has been a little agitated about Pete. They read his message, formed an opinion, then jumped his frame about it. Their opinion was formed on content, not name.

More times than not, Bats, you note the name of someone, then, regardless of the content, go for the throat of a liberal, or worship the ground he walks on if he's a conservative.

If G.W. Bush were to say that 2 plus 2 equals 3, you'd laud and magnify his name as one who adheres to the proper economic theory. If President Obama were to remark that 2 plus 2 equals 4, it wouldn't matter that he was absolutely correct. You'd berate the man as being a collectivist, socialist, communist, statist, or whatever buzzword you were using that day just because he wasn't one of your cadre.

It's not furor. Pretty much the furthest thing from it. It's simply mocking the preposterous statement made by a pompous ass likening a political squabble and partisan gamesmanship to a a life and death fight for freedom.

baily -- Using irony and sarcasm to highlight preposterous comments and to amuse the reading/twittering public is an interesting idea. It might catch on and may become a mainstay on TV shows featuring Jon Stewart and, my hero, Stephen Colbert. Thanks for the laughs.

I am just sorry that the Conservatives are fairly impaired in this area. The FOX attempts at putting on a show similar to the Daily Show were pretty lame. Maybe something like that will succeed in the future.

What attempts are you referring to by Fox?

They had a late night comedy show, one or two years ago. It did not last long.

Fox briefly in 2007 ran a hilarious mildly amusing pathetic right-leaning satire/comedy show called "The ½ Hour News Hour" that they stole plagiarized benchmarked after seeing the impact on the youth of America by the Daily Show and Saturday Night Live’s news segment. No doubt Fox thought those shows too liberal and wanted to help shape public opinion with its own slant.

It could NOT hold a candle to the great Conservative Patriot Stephen Colbert and his brilliant right-slanted analysis. Which is why I am proud to call myself a Colbert Conservative.

And liberal media never ran a ill fated short lived program? Can you say Air America? Or Godowntv?

Look yet another post from DY’s most prolific poster that reads, “Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.”

Methinks the self-indulgent/self-important child with internet access is again feeling more than a little defensive. And I believe I detect just a hint of trollishness and a tinge of churlishness as well. Looks like somebody’s sense of humor went “night, night” before the poster did.

If he was only a Colbert Conservative, he’d know my post dealt with HUMOR [[as did all but a couple of the posts on the thread ). But much like the Fox attempt at humor I cited, our self-indulgent child didn’t get it.

Alas, none of this will stop the “OCD/Tourette's of the fingers” [[as he has been described on this forum) from posting whatever enters into his self-delusional little head. More's the pity, because I hoped that somehow other types of Conservatives could come up with at least a mildly amusing COMEDY show to vie for the hearts and minds of today’s young and old right-leaners.

In the mean time, we can always read the over the top twitters of Pete Hoekstra and, even better, the responses found at http://search.twitter.com/search?q=petehoekstra

Or...we can stick with my hero and great American patriot…Stephen Colbert. His new haircut looks great.

I can catch Air America programs just fine out of Chicago, on AM 820. And here in Detroit, AM 1310 is still alive and well despite being relegated to a weak signal thanks to the monopolies, like Clear Channel that control our airwaves.

And Bats, why do you refer to Go Left TV as God own TV? Shouldn't it be God's own TV?

Go down TV...a play on the self described political direction [[left) of the site.

1310? I don't think the 3 listeners they have can get a good signal on the equipment inside the studio.

    Sarcasm is lost on you....

As for 1310, they'd have more listeners if the signal was stronger. Instead we get the zombies on WJR, with the exception of Mitch.

Mitch is somewhat moderate, and a bit libertarian [[notice that he is rabidly against estate taxes).

Regarding the audience, you have it backwards....if they had listeners, the demand would drive them to increase their signal, it doesn't work the other way around.

I don't always buy that argument.

WDFN 1130 had a good audience, but they fired most of the local air personalities anyway. Why? Because it was cheaper to go with national syndication shows.

I wouldn't call it the best quality, as they have lost most listeners who want local sports talk.

Besides, most of the music played on the radio is pretty lame and unoriginal.
